Maison Gainsbourg, which comprises his former residence and a separate museum, shop and café, will open to visitors on September 20, according to the official website. But now visitors will be able to see inside, exploring the house to the accompaniment of an original soundtrack made by Gainsbourg’s daughter, actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, and the Soundwalk Collective. Over the past week, in the lead up to the grand opening, Charlotte Gainsbourg has posted a series of photos of the house on Instagram. Anyone planning a visit will have to book ahead, though: Tickets are sold out until until December. The pair quickly became the subject of widespread public fascination, with Gainsbourg nearly 20 years older than Birkin, who died in July.

Film star Catherine Deneuve, singer Vanessa Paradis and first Lady Brigitte Macron were among the mourners in the Saint-Roch church. Outside, tearful fans waving banners marked with "Jane Forever" and "Thank you Jane Birkin" watched the ceremony on a giant screen on the corner of Rue des Pyramides and Rue Saint-Honore. Birken was best known overseas for her 1969 hit in which she and her then-lover, the late French singer and songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, sang the sexually explicit “Je t’aime...moi non plus”. CNN —Jane Birkin, the British singer and actress who found fame in France, has died aged 76, CNN affiliate BFMTV reported Sunday, citing its sources. She was the inspiration for the famous Birkin bag by French luxury house Hermes. Gainsbourg went on to write “Je t’aime… moi non plus” for Birkin and the song became an international hit that same year. She also managed to carve out a prolific career in the world of music, releasing several records in the French language. Dumas was true to his word and the Birkin bag was introduced in 1984.

When the Radio France sign pops up in “The Passengers of the Night,” you know it won’t be long before the movie’s most vivid character lands a job there. Given her instrument’s breathy intimacy and how delicately it brushes the ear, though, whispering can certainly feel more accurate. Élisabeth is a mess when the story opens, so that voice gets a workout. Mostly, she does this by re-entering the world — she finds a job and then another, meets one lover and then a second — a trajectory that involves rejection but also approval. The director Mikhaël Hers’s approach in “Passengers” is at once precise and elliptical.
